"Brown Trout" by Michael Scheele, Special Guest Artist
Preview: Sunday 16th November - 4pm
Exhibition continues to Saturday 29th November
at 53B Ottawa Road, Ngaio, Wellington.
In this Exhibition we will be featuring paintings by our special guest artist Michael Scheele
who specializes in very fine and accurate watercolours of fishing flies and fish.
We will also be showing works by Colin Wynn
(Official Artist of the Royal New Zealand Navy since 1983), along with works by our top artists Brian Baxter
and Jacky Pearson
, as well as some beautiful decorative early original prints in the fishing tradition.
At the Preview on Sunday 16th November, Doug Stevens
of nzfishing.com will be giving a demonstration of the Art of Fly Fishing
at 4:30pm (weather permitting) and will be inviting others to participate.
This exhibition is a "must see" for the dedicated fishing person and a great opportunity to find that perfect fishing gift. There will be a selection of fishing merchandise from Michael Scheele, including his 2015 calendar. Regrettably Michael is unable to attend.

Michael Scheele is widely known for his paintings of New Zealand fish, birds and finely detailed watercolours of individual flies.
"Over the last few years, I have been enjoying much success with my art as it's been exhibited in not only local exhibitions but my very own exhibition at Clearview Winery in 2012, while last year saw me win "The People's Choice Award". My work has been sold internationally, including Japan and the USA."
His work is featured in the Art of New Zealand Fly Fishing 2015 calendar which can be ordered online.
Doug Stevens is the owner/manager of the website www.nzfishing.com.
He is also the President of the New Zealand Federation of Freshwater Anglers (NZFFA).
Prior to setting up nzfishing.com he was dean at a number of polytechnics around the country.
In 2011 he stood for election to Parliament and was second on the list for United Future, and campaigned on the platform of protecting our outdoor heritage.
